Starting next Monday (29), the government of São Paulo will put into effect the creation of the office to coordinate prevention and assistance actions in places affected by the heavy rains that are to come during New Year’s week.
The State Civil Defense points out that the 27th and 28th of December should have rain within the expected average for this time of year. On the 31st, the forecast is very hot and muggy, with isolated rain showers typical of summer.
The scenario changes between December 29th and 30th, when there is a warning for more intense storms. On these days, volumes of rain between 20 and 50 millimeters per day are expected, in addition to strong winds, thunderstorms and the possibility of hail, especially in the regions of Presidente Prudente, Marília, Itapeva and Registro.
The information was discussed at a meeting held this Friday, at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, where governor Tarcísio de Freitas announced the decision in a meeting with mayors from 284 municipalities. During the meeting, the governor highlighted the importance of joint action between the State and city halls to reduce risks and minimize impacts on the population.
