New Year’s Eve in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) is expected to generate R$3.34 billion in the city’s economy, according to city hall estimates. The value is 6% higher than that recorded at the turn of 2024 to 2025.
The projection considers the holding of events in different regions of the city and the presence of an estimated audience of more than 5 million people, including residents and tourists.
Of this total, around half should be concentrated in Copacabana, the main New Year celebration point in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. The beach traditionally brings together large crowds attracted by the shows and fireworks.
The main stage will be set up in front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel. The highlight attractions will be Gilberto Gil and Ney Matogrosso.
In addition to them, the program includes performances by Alcione, João Gomes, Iza, DJ Alok, Belo and the Beija Flor samba school, expanding the musical offering throughout the night.
The study was prepared by Riotur, in conjunction with the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development and the Fundação João Goulart Institute. The analysis considers the impact of the event on sectors such as tourism, commerce, transport and services.
