In a year-end speech, broadcast on national television, President Lula assessed 2025 as a historic period for Brazil, marked by challenges, but also by achievements in combating crime. According to Lula, the Federal Police carried out the largest operation against organized crime ever recorded in the country, reaching the highest levels of criminal factions and demonstrating that no resources or influence can impede the corporation’s actions.
“This year, the Federal Police commanded the largest operation ever carried out against organized crime. The fight against criminal factions reached the top floor for the first time and no money or influence will stop the Federal Police from moving forward.” said the president
The president also emphasized the need to combat violence against women, announcing that he will lead a national effort involving ministries, public institutions and civil society to address this issue. Lula reinforced the importance of male responsibility in this fight, calling on men to commit to the cause.
“I also want to take this moment to say that a people so kind and capable of producing such beautiful things cannot accept violence against women. I will lead a major national effort involving ministries, institutions and the entire Brazilian society. We who are men must make a commitment of our soul.”
Furthermore, the Chief Executive addressed labor rights, highlighting the urgency of guaranteeing more rest time for workers. He mentioned the popular demand for the end of the so-called “6×1 scale”, in which employees work six consecutive days and rest for just one, without a reduction in salary, pointing out the measure as essential for the well-being of Brazilian families.
“It is not fair that a person is forced to work hard for six days and only has one day to rest their body and head, go out with their family, take care of the house and have fun and closely monitor their children’s growth. The end of the six-to-one scale, without salary reduction, is a demand from the people that it is up to us, representatives of the people, to listen to and transform into reality.” said Lula
