The special envoys of the United States and Ukraine released a joint statement in which they celebrated what they described as “productive talks” in Miami, in which there was, however, no apparent progress in efforts to end the war with Russia.
Senior representatives from Ukraine, Russia and Kiev’s European allies have spent the past three days in the US state of Florida for a series of talks organized by Steve Witkoff, the US president’s special envoy.
Despite a series of meetings of officials in recent weeks, there have been no clear signs of imminent solutions to the main obstacles to ending the war, which has lasted almost four years.
The diplomatic offensive began after Washington presented, last month, a 28-point plan interpreted as a mirror of the Kremlin’s demands. It was reformulated after the participation of Ukraine and other European countries, but its content was not disclosed.
