The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo issued an alert for the occurrence of storms in several regions of the state between today (23) and Tuesday (25). According to the agency, the slow passage of a weather system along the coast of the Southeast region should favor the formation of heavy rain, accompanied by lightning, gusts of wind and the possibility of hail.
The risk is highest in the regions of Vale do Paraíba, Vale do Ribeira, North Coast, Serra da Mantiqueira, Metropolitan Region of the capital and Baixada Santista, where rainfall accumulations are classified as “very high”. The alert also points out accumulations considered “high” for the regions of Ribeirão Preto, Franca, Barretos and Sorocaba.
In the regions of Araraquara, Bauru, Presidente Prudente, Marília, Araçatuba and São José do Rio Preto, also in the interior of SP, the forecast is for “average” accumulations. According to Civil Defense, the scenario increases the risk of flooding, flooding, floods, landslides and events related to strong winds and electrical discharges.
