UEC unveils advanced engines for helicopters and drones at Dubai Air Show

United Engine Corporation (UEC), part of Rostec, showcased its latest propulsion system developments for light helicopters, hybrid aircraft and various categories of drones at Dubai Air Show 2025.

One of the key products on display is the VK-650V engine, a power system developed entirely in Russia to meet the growing demands of the 2-4 tonne helicopter market.

The engine features low fuel consumption, high durability of key components and an advanced digital automatic control system. It delivers 650 hp in takeoff mode and reaches 750 hp in emergency situations.

Hybrid systems and new drone engines

Using the VK-650V technology base, UEC experts have also developed a 500 kW hybrid power unit (HPU) combining a gas turbine and an electric motor. The system is designed for transport drones, air taxis, VTOLs or ultra-short takeoff and landing aircraft.

Additionally, a 400 kW turbine generator to be mounted on next-generation hybrid aircraft was also unveiled.

UEC also introduced a 40-150 kgf small turbojet engine and the RH50 turbogenerator for the first time at this Dubai event. These engines feature high fuel efficiency, simple lubrication systems, and low weight, making them suitable for a variety of UAV platforms.

The RH50 uses kerosene as fuel and converts turbine combustion energy into electricity through a connected generator. It is currently already being used on Russian drones of various sizes and designs.
