When contacted, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it had already registered 15 Brazilians dead and 26 missing in the clash – and “Emilios George Ades Georgiades” is not on either list. The response also mentions that Itamaraty “enlistment [de cidadãos do Brasil que vão para o combate] does not require authorization or prior knowledge from the Brazilian government.” The representation of the Ukrainian government in Brazil stated: “The Ukrainian Embassy is not recruiting Brazilian citizens to participate in the war. All Brazilian citizens participating in the war in the ranks of the Ukrainian army arrived on the territory of Ukraine and signed contracts of their own free will, and we know nothing about them, and the army is not obliged to inform us. The Embassy only has a list of Brazilian citizens who died and disappeared during the war.” The text continues: “The video in question presents clear evidence of the use of artificial intelligence. Furthermore, it is similar to another rather low quality video, also generated by artificial intelligence, about a supposed Ukrainian who speaks Russian, wears a badge with the Ukrainian flag, cries and asks his mother to take him home. This video was released by the Russians a few weeks ago.” Profiles and social media channels publicize trips of a type of “war tourism”, in which Brazilians embark to the front, to work alongside the Ukrainian Forces, with the promise of remuneration in dollars.
