Striker Cristiano Ronaldo participated this Tuesday (18) in a dinner at the White House with the President of the United States, Donald Trump. The star was accompanied by his wife, Georgina Rodríguez, at the meeting that brought together several other influential names in the world.
Among them was the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman. Ronaldo currently plays in Saudi football and has a contract with Al-Nassr until 2027. The team is controlled by the country’s Public Investment Fund, headed by the government.
The world football star’s visit to the headquarters of the North American government took place with great expectations, especially after the Portuguese player praised Trump during an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.
“He’s one of the most important people in the world, he’s one of the people I want to meet. I want to do it one day, if I have the opportunity. He’s one of the people I want to sit down with and have a good conversation. I really like him, because I think he can make things happen. Donald Trump is one of those people who can help change the world”, commented the Portuguese idol.
Last June, Ronaldo sent an autographed shirt to the American president with a message of peace. The gift was given to the Republican during the G7 summit in Canada, amid the escalation of tension in the Middle East, mainly between Israel and Iran.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s trip to the White House gained even greater symbolic value after Portugal qualified for the 2026 World Cup. The country secured its place in the World Cup last Sunday (16), after beating Armenia 9 x 1. The tournament will be played in the United States, in addition to Canada and Mexico.
