Former player João Alves de Assis Silva, better known as Jô, was arrested again this Tuesday (18) for failure to pay his pension. This is the former striker’s fourth arrest in less than a year and a half. He has spent time with teams such as Corinthians, Atlético-MG, Manchester City and the Brazilian national team.
The arrest warrant was served while Jô was participating in a barbecue in Praia da Barra, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. According to the information released, the court order was issued after the mother of one of his children proved that the former player had not paid the fixed amount for more than ten months. According to the decision, the former player’s debt already exceeds R$220,000.
The first time the former athlete was arrested was in May 2024, when he was wearing the Amazonas shirt. He was detained moments before the match against Ponte Preta, in Series B of the Brazilian Championship.
