Ford has officially stopped production of the Focus, one of the American automaker’s most beloved hatchbacks.

The company closed this chapter with the building of the last Focus unit at its factory in Saarlouis, Germany, on Friday 14 November.

“I can confirm that the last Focus was produced on Friday November 14. It was a white five-door hatchback,” said Volker Eiscommunications manager for Ford Europe, to Motor 1.

The end of the Focus comes just months after the last sporty ST rolled off the production line on September 26. Production of the Fiesta was stopped in 2023, while the Mondeo was stopped a year earlier, and the long life of the Ka also ended in 2020.

Now, with the end of the Focus, Ford no longer has any “regular” cars in its range, which now consists only of commercial vehicles and SUVs. Last year explained Jim FarleyCEO of Ford, why the manufacturer decided to phase out so many iconic cars.

The answer is simple, according to him: Ford simply didn’t make enough money from them. In an interview with Car Magazine he explained that the profit margins were too small to justify further development, even with the cars’ reasonable popularity.

“We’ve always competed in the heart of the passenger car market, which didn’t work very well for the Mondeo, Focus and Fiesta. They were loved by many customers but never justified a major capital investment – unlike commercial vehicles,” Farley told the outlet.
