The Ford has officially ended production of the Focusone of the most popular hatchbacks from the American manufacturer.

The company closed this chapter with the release of the latest Focus at its plant in Saarlouis, Germany, on Friday 14 November.

“I can confirm that the last Focus was produced on Friday 14 November. It was a white five-door hatchback,” he said Volker Eishead of corporate communications at Ford of Europe, to the site Motor 1.

One car for the museum, one for the staff. The rest: history – and cheers for the time spent with Ford in Saarlouis. An emotional day for thousands of employees – and a moment Saarlouis will never forget. (Video: Private)♬ Original Sound – Blue Light Report Saarland

The end of the Focus comes a few months after the last sporty ST rolled off the assembly line on September 26. Production of the Fiesta ended in 2023, that of the Mondeo a year earlier, and the Ka’s long life also ended in 2020.

With the end of the Focus, Ford no longer has any “normal” cars in its portfolio, which now only includes commercial vehicles and SUVs. Last year, Jim FarleyCEO of Ford, explained why the manufacturer decided to end production of so many iconic cars.

The answer is simple, in his opinion: Ford simply wasn’t making enough money on these cars. In an interview with Car Magazine he explained that profit margins were too low to justify further development, even considering the popularity of the models.

“We’ve always competed at the heart of the passenger car market, which hasn’t worked out very well for the Mondeo, Focus and Fiesta. They were loved by many customers, but never justified a major capital investment – unlike commercial vehicles,” Farley told the publication.
