Vecín, who was 45 years old, was found by a climber who was on the trail in the Gradura region, in Teverga, in northern Spain, last Sunday (16).
He was still alive when the rescue team arrived by helicopter. However, he succumbed to his injuries and died on the way to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA).
The team Team Repauto teamfor which he was racing, announced that it will pay tribute to Vecín on December 21st, during the Race of Champions, in Ponferrada.
“Thank you for all the great moments you gave us, mate. We will never forget you. Today, another star shines in the sky. Rest in peace, Carlos”, wrote the Repauto in an Instagram post.
