Recent images released by the “Strategic Aviation of the Russian Federation” channel show the presence of 137 trucks of unknown purpose at the Engels-2 airfield, one of Russia’s main strategic aviation bases.

The vehicles appear parked next to an An-12 transport plane, raising speculation about the possible movement of weapons for the bombers installed in the unit.

The base has been undergoing a continuous expansion process since October 2025, including new paved areas in both the southern and northern parts of the airfield. Marks identified during recent excavations indicate the creation of at least 12 new parking spaces in the area under construction.

The expansion plans had been announced in May, with the first work registered in March. The new spaces are expected to accommodate Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers, as well as aircraft such as Su-34 and Su-35, reinforcing the base’s operational capacity.
