Ukraine will reinforce its air defense with eight SAMP/T NG systems, supplied by France under a long-term bilateral agreement.
According to the French president Emmanuel Macronthe equipment represents an updated and improved version of the system, making Ukraine the first country to operate this new generation still in final development.

Each set includes six launchers, totaling 48 units, and integrates a military cooperation package valid for ten years. The agreement also provides for the purchase and joint production of drones, interceptors and guided bombs, in addition to deliveries planned for the next two years and strategic projects for the next decade. Kiev claims the new SAMP/T configuration will be capable of countering ballistic missiles, although the transfer schedule has not yet been released.
Currently employed by the French Air Force and the Italian Army, the SAMP/T is responsible for medium-range air defense, with the ability to intercept drones, aircraft, helicopters and cruise missiles. The system will be integrated with the new Aster 30 B1NT missiles, already successfully tested by France and Italy, capable of neutralizing ballistic and hypersonic targets up to 150 kilometers and 25,000 meters in altitude.
