President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) responded this Tuesday (18) to German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz’s speech criticizing Belém (PA), the host city of COP30.
Lula referred to a statement by Merz on November 13, when the prime minister, at the German Trade Congress, stated that the German delegation at COP30 was happy to leave Belém and return to the European country.
During a speech in the interior of Tocantins, Lula said that Friedrich should have enjoyed the culture and cuisine of Pará during his visit to Brazil: “He needed to have danced in Belém, tasted the cuisine of Pará”. And he stated that Berlin, the capital of Germany, does not offer 10% of the quality of Belém.
