Poland received an additional 20 tanks K2 Black Panther allocated to the 16th Mechanized Division, officially completed the first contract with South Korea for the purchase of 180 units. The announcement was made by the Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosinyak-Kamyshin a statement released on Wednesday.
The initial agreement for the supply of the tanks was signed on 26 August 2022. A few months later, in December of the same year, Poland received its first batch of ten vehicles, marking the start of the rapid integration of the K2 into the Polish Army.

In August this year, Warsaw expanded its partnership with Seoul by signing a second executive contract to acquire an additional 180 K2 tanks. Of this new batch, 64 units will be produced in the K2PL variant, an improved version adapted to meet the specific needs of the Polish Armed Forces.

Most of the K2PL tanks, along with additional platforms and supporting components, will be produced at the ZM Bumar-Łabędy facility, strengthening industrial cooperation between the two countries and increasing military production capacity within Poland.
The total value of this new contract reaches 6.7 billion US dollars, covering not only the provision of armored vehicles but also a complete support package consisting of training, maintenance, technical services and integrated logistics.
The arrival of the new tanks marks another important step in the modernization of Poland’s ground forces, at a time when the country is strengthening national defense and deepening strategic alliances.
