The Russian Aerospace Force’s Su-35S fighters now operate with Kh-31P anti-radar missiles, expanding their ability to neutralize enemy radars.
The new images released by the Russian Ministry of Defense show aircraft taking off with two of these missiles, as well as air-to-air weapons, indicating an adaptation in the air strategy during the conflict in Ukraine.

The incorporation of the Kh-31P allows the Su-35S to carry out anti-aircraft defense suppression missions, as these missiles use passive seekers capable of tracking and destroying medium and long-range radars in various radio frequency bands. This change reinforces the role of the Su-35S as first-tier aircraft in attack and defense operations.
Designed as a 4++ generation fighter, the Su-35S fulfills roles that include aerial combat, attacks on ground targets and reconnaissance missions. In the current scenario of the conflict, these jets have been used frequently and, according to Russian sources, regularly shoot down Ukrainian aircraft.
