According to Dmitry Semizorov, deputy general director of Uralvagonzavod special equipment, real use in combat remains the main driver of improvements implemented by the industry.

He emphasized that the main goal is to increase the effectiveness of TOS against modern threats, especially UAVs, which have become a constant presence on the battlefield. “Engineers and designers from the industrial group continue to improve Solntsepyok, perfecting its characteristics,” he said.
The T-80-based version is nearing completion
Testing of the modernized version of the system built on the T-80 tank platform is now entering the final stage. These new modifications include increased range, increased accuracy and a higher level of automation in operational processes.
The TOS-1A remains one of Russia’s most feared and effective weapons systems, primarily due to its large-scale thermobaric explosive power and the lack of a direct equivalent in other armed forces.
The delivery is marked by reverence and symbolism

The arrival of this new batch comes ahead of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense Forces (QBRN) Day. One of the newly modernized units was officially delivered to the troops as a tribute to Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, former head of the QBRN forces of the Russian Federation, whose contribution was crucial to the development and refinement of this weapon.
Widely used in recent military operations, the TOS-1A has become one of the symbols of the Russian campaign, used to ensure fire superiority on various battle fronts.
