The Federal Police identified the removed mayor of Sorocaba, Rodrigo Manga (Republicans), as the leader of a criminal group and the main beneficiary of a corruption scheme involving public contracts in the health sector. The conclusion is contained in the report that justified his removal from office, determined last week.
According to the document, Manga’s removal is considered “essential” to prevent the continuation of illicit practices in the municipal administration. The investigation is part of the second phase of Operation Copy and Paste, which investigates fraud in contracts signed by Sorocaba City Hall with social organizations responsible for managing health units.
Known on social media as “mayor tiktoker”, Manga is suspected of running a scheme aimed at diverting public resources by favoring companies and contracted entities. The PF claims that he had a central role in the criminal structure, directly benefiting from the irregularities discovered.
In a statement, the mayor’s defense classified the investigation as “completely null”. The lawyers maintain that the investigation was initiated “illegally, conducted by an incompetent authority and motivated by political persecution”.
