Leaders of Comando Vermelho were transferred to federal prisons following a court decision in Rio de Janeiro this Wednesday (12). This measure occurs amid intense clashes between the police and members of the faction in the Penha and Alemão complexes.
The transfer includes seven of the ten drug traffickers identified as ringleaders in the recent attacks, with the court requesting additional information for three other members.
The federal destination units, located in states such as Rio Grande do Norte and Mato Grosso do Sul, have maximum security.
The decision seeks not only to respond to acts of violence, but also to prevent these criminals from continuing to exert influence from within state prisons.
