The first aircraft under the cooperation agreement between Brazil, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden, production by Embraer begins

According to the Dutch Ministry of Defense, the Netherlands will serve as the “lead nation” of the project, which means that the main contracts and technical and logistical conditions will be formulated by the Netherlands, and other participating countries will benefit from this arrangement.
Advantages of multinational cooperation
Cooperation among the three countries brings dual economic and operational benefits. Co-production reduces operating costs, standardizes airframe configurations, and simplifies personnel exchanges and joint training.
Construction of the first aircraft will take approximately two years. Assembly of the main structure (fuselage frame) is expected to take eight months, followed by the installation of the flight management system (FMS) and aircraft self-protection system.
Dutch aviation industry involvement
Dutch aerospace companies will also be involved in this production process, at the location of the RNLAF maintenance facility –Woensdrecht City – completes final assembly and system integration.
The C-390 will replace the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules transport aircraft currently in service with the Netherlands Air Force. The first C-390 is expected to be delivered by the end of 2027, and the last one in 2029.
