Nicole Richie Seemingly Reacts to Hilary Duff’s New Song Amid Joel Madden Rumors
Nicole Richie is coming clean about how she feels about her friend’s music.
The Simple Life alum shared a supportive message about Hilary Duff‘s new song “Mature” amid speculation that the lyrics are about her husband Joel Maddenwho Hilary dated from 2004 to 2006.
In a photo shared to her Instagram Story Nov. 11Nicole and Hilary—both wearing all black—lay on the grass outside while holding hands and laughing hysterically. Tagging the “So Yesterday” singer in the snap, the Candidly Nicole star wrote, “‘Mature’ is not the word I would use to describe us, but regardless, this song is a BOP.”
Prior to Nicole’s sweet reaction, rumors circulated that “Mature” was partly inspired by Hilary’s past romance with Joel, with whom she has a nine-year age gap.
“She looks like she could be your daughter / Like me before I got smarter,” Hilary—who was 19 when she and the Good Charlotte musician, then 28, called it quits—sings on the chorus. “When I was flattered to hear you say / You’re so mature for your age.”
