Video shows plane disintegrating in the air and crashing in Georgia The C-130 Hercules plane crashed in Georgia with 20 people on board this Tuesday (11). The aircraft is a military freighter that, over the decades, has carried out reconnaissance missions, recovered satellites mid-flight, dropped bombs and participated in attacks on ground targets with cannons. This time, the model was being used to transport people — another of its common functions. The Turkish government confirmed that there were victims, but did not inform the number until the last update of this report, as well as the cause of the fall (see the fall in the video above). The aircraft had just taken off from Azerbaijan towards Turkey and crashed in the border region between the two countries, according to the Turkish Ministry of Defense. C-130 Lockheed Corporation plane According to the United States Air Force, the C-130 Hercules is one of the most resistant and versatile aircraft ever built, capable of carrying heavy loads and landing on irregular runways. See some overviews of the model, already used in 70 countries: ✈️ Height: 11.9 meters; ✈️ Wingspan 39.7 meters; and ✈️ Length: approximately 30 meters (there are some models that are 29.3 meters and others that are 34.69 meters). A plane created for war and adapted for everything Lockheed Corporation, the United States aerospace company responsible for creating the model, launched the first prototypes of the C-130 in July 1951. The project came about after the country realized, during the Korean War, that it did not have a military transport capable of transporting troops and equipment by air over medium distances. Faced with this need, the North American Air Force requested the development of an aircraft with great payload and autonomy. The first production C-130A — almost identical to the prototypes — flew for the first time on April 7, 1955, in Marietta, a city in the state of Georgia. The model featured four engines, each with 3,750 horsepower and three-blade propellers. Since then, more than 2,500 units have been manufactured and delivered to around 70 countries, which have developed their own variants. C-130 aircraft Lockheed Corporation Since December 2006, Turkey has been modernizing its C-130 Hercules aircraft through the Turkish Aerospace company. According to Defense Turkey magazine, the most recent versions — known as the C-130BM/EM Hercules Military Transport Aircraft — received a digital cockpit, navigation system compatible with international standards and equipment adapted for use with night vision goggles. The planes also now have a multifunctional mission computer, flight management system and ground mission planning unit, which increased the operational efficiency of the Turkish fleet. The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) used the C-130 Hercules between 1965 and 2024. Its use in Brazil was replaced by that of the KC-390 Millennium. Plane crashing in Georgia Reproduction
