On Monday (1st) of the Russian Air Force, the SU-34 fighter bomber crashed in the Viksa district of Nizhny Novgorod, near Kulebaki. The aircraft carried out a training flight when a technical error occurred.

According to preliminary information, the machine crashed near the village of Veletma. At the time of the accident, the aircraft did not transport combat weapons.
The staff consisted of two pilots who managed to catapult. One of them was found unharmed shortly after the accident and the other was localized after the search – they both survived the incident.
Initially, the Russian Ministry of Defense did not make an official statement, but later confirmed the cause of the accident:
“Today, at about 1:00 pm in Moscow, a SU-34 aircraft was accidentally suffered in the Nizhny Novgorod region during a planned training flight. During the landing approach, one of the chassis release system was malfunctioning. The staff repeatedly tried to prevent the error in the air, but the condition did not change.
