Pre-installation of interiors manufactured in Russia has been successfully completed on an experimental MC-21 aircraft at the Irkutsk aircraft factory. The aircraft is equipped with luggage compartments, window and ceiling panels, kitchen and bathroom modules, wardrobes, partitions, curtains, wall coverings and door decorations, and Business class seats.
The components were manufactured by the Aviazhnie Interery company as part of the Importation Replacement Program, which aims to strengthen the Russian aerospace industry with completely domestic solutions.
Genar Shuvalov, head of Pао “Yakovlev” manufacturer’s interior design and equipment department, said the installation was successful and exceeded expectations: “Experts highlighted the quality of the new interior. Some parts fit even more than their foreign equivalents previously tested in the same aircraft.”
Representatives of the interior manufacturing firm were closely monitored by assembly. “Installation of the first internal stock is an important step in our strategic cooperation with Pао ‘Yakovlev’. This allows us to confidently start serial production from the interiors of the MC-21,” said Roman Ramazanov, CEO of aviazhnie Interery.
Floor and baggage panels, which will be manufactured in Uljanovsk, Russia, are expected to be completely domestic in the coming months.
