Supercars announces 2026 season calendar

by Marcelo Moreira

Supercars has announced a 14-round calendar for 2026, confirming a second round in New Zealand and a return to Queensland Raceway.

The new schedule means that the teams and drivers will have the highest number of events since the pre-COVID series of 2019.

The NZ sweep will start with the Taupō Motorsport Park event on 10-12 April, followed by the maiden event at Ruapuna Raceway near Christchurch on 17-19 April.

The series will again feature three segments, with the Sprint Cup run over nine events, a two-round Enduro Cup at The Bend 500 and the Bathurst 1000, and a three-event Finals Series, taking in the events at the Gold Coast, Sandown Park in Melbourne and the Adelaide 500.

The opening round of the series, at Sydney Motorsport Park on 20 February, will be free for all fans to attend.

“The New Zealand double-header is a historic moment, and the debut of Toyota at Sydney Motorsport Park is something we’ve all been looking forward to,” Supercars chief executive James Warburton said. “Making the opening day free for everyone is our way of saying thank you to the fans who make this sport so special.”

“We would like to thank all our stakeholders for their vision and support in bringing this calendar to life. We’re ready for a season that will be remembered for years to come. We’re proud of the access we’re able to provide for our fans.”

The series broadcast coverage will be similar to before. Supercars confirmed a new four-year deal for New Zealand’s Sky Sport service, but one fewer round will be broadcast with its Free-to-Air partner Seven Sport, with the Darwin round becoming a subscribers-only event.

Supercars has also confirmed a six-round Super2 calendar, starting at the opening round in Sydney before a maiden trip to Darwin, followed by Perth, Bathurst, Sandown and Adelaide.

Other support series are to be confirmed but are likely to include the Toyota GR Cup and the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia series.
