The São Paulo police are trying to locate the members of the “gate gang”, a gang specialized in cloning gate access controls to steal from houses and condominiums. Last Wednesday afternoon (22), a nanny and a child were taken hostage by criminals.
Security circuit images show four criminals invading the house in Jardim Paulista, an upscale region of São Paulo. They use a cloned remote control to activate the gate. Before fleeing, the gang tied the woman’s feet and arms.
The police were called, but when they arrived at the scene, the criminals had already fled. In a statement to the police, the owner of the house reported that jewelry and other valuable items were stolen.
In an interview with Expresso Bandnews, with Andressa Guaraná, delegate Roberto Monteiro explained how to prevent the cloning of these devices.
“It is important to highlight here that the most modern controls are those with a rolling combination. This control is cloning-proof. When a person has a gate that opens automatically in their home, they should always ask the company that installed it if that code is rolling. This is important because every time the owner of the house or even someone who lives in an apartment activates the control, it changes the communication code. In older cases where people, generally in residences, in houses, do not It has this modern control and yes with fixed code”.
The delegate also warned that cheaper solutions such as physical locks may work.
“It is important that a device is installed on this gate that cuts the power when it is not in use or even physically blocks the opening. This is a cheap solution.”
Another tip requires a change of attitude: do not activate the control away from home.
“When you are a long way from the gate, this makes cloning easier for criminals. The criminal logically studies the environment, then he realizes that that resident leaves in the morning and returns at night. So he clones the remote control, opens the gate, enters the garage, commits theft”, explains Monteiro.
