This Thursday (23), the state of São Paulo recorded seven confirmed deaths due to methanol poisoning. The most recent victim is a 25-year-old young man, in Osasco, in greater SP, where another death was reported.
According to the Ministry of Health, São Paulo is the state where the most cases involving chemical poisoning have been reported: 33 confirmed cases and 57 still under investigation.
In Brazil, there are three more deaths confirmed due to contamination of the substance: two in Pernambuco and one in Paraná.
The national balance indicates a total of 112 notifications, with 53 confirmed cases and 59 under investigation.
Currently, 11 suspected cases remain under investigation: six in Pernambuco, two in Paraná, one in São Paulo, one in Mato Grosso do Sul and one in Minas Gerais.
