- Tom’s Heritage is offering a complete restoration program for the Toyota Corolla Levin AE86.
- The upgrades include a more powerful four-cylinder engine.
- The restoration starts at ¥13,200,000 ($83,000) if you have a donor car.
The Toyota Corolla might be a compact commuter car at its core, but in the right configuration, it can be a blast to drive. Today’s buyers can spend their hard-earned cash on a 300-horsepower hatchback with all-wheel drive, but if you want something a bit more iconic, Tom’s Racing has something for you—a fully restored Corolla Levin AE86.
Tom’s launched a new Corolla program that offers a complete restoration service that goes beyond its appearance. It includes powertrain upgrades to the 1.6-liter four-cylinder 4A-G engine. It has a larger bore, upping the output to 188 horsepower, a sizable increase over the original’s 158 hp.

In addition to the frame-off restoration and repair, the package also includes new 15-inch lattice-style wheels. Tom’s wraps them in Bridgestone Potenza RE-11RS tires.
Unlike some programs, Tom’s offers a complete package that includes the car, starting at ¥16,500,000 (about $104,000 at today’s exchange rate). But if you already have the car and just want a thorough restoration and the other upgrade, it starts at ¥13,200,000 ($83,000).
The all-new GR Corolla is much cheaper, but also a tad less cool.

Motor1’s Take: It is a great time to be a JDM fan. Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan, Toyota is pumping out new parts for 30-year-old sports cars, and now Tom’s is giving the iconic Corolla AE86 a proper glow-up.
