The U.S. Department of State has approved a potential foreign military sale of 45 pods of the M30A2 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System-Alternative Warhead, as well as telemetry kits, technical assistance and logistics support.

The United States has approved a possible foreign military sale to Singapore regarding Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System-Alternative Warhead (GMLRS-AW) missiles and associated equipment, in a package estimated at $83.14 million. The approval was announced by the US Department of State on April 1, 2026.

According to the notice, the Singapore government has applied for the purchase of 45 M30A2pods from it GMLRSsystem with alternative charge. The package also includes telemetry kits, engineering services, technical support and other logistics and program support elements.

According to the US justification, the proposal is expected to strengthen Singapore’s defensive capabilities, improve its response to current and future threats and contribute to regional stability. The U.S. assessment also indicates that the Asian country is unlikely to encounter any problems integrating the equipment and services into its armed forces.

The main contractor for the agreement will Lockheed Martin are located in Bethesda, Maryland. The weapon system mentioned in the approval is the M30E1 GMLRS-AW, a surface-to-surface missile designed to comply with the US Department of Defense policy on unexploded ordnance, replacing the GMLRS DPICM version, which is considered non-compliant.

The approval is part of the United States’ formal Foreign Military Sale (FMS) process. In recent announcements, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said that notices of major military sales have been published on the State Department website since February 2026.

The M30A2 GMLRS-AW is launched by systems from the MLRS family, mainly the M142 HIMARS in of M270 MLRS/M270A2. Lockheed Martin describes the GMLRS as compatible with HIMARS and M270, and the US Army states that the M142 HIMARS fires one pod, while the M270 fires two pods of GMLRS family ammunition.
