For one, the Gossip Girl alum said she wouldn’t have taken on the role of narrator in National Geographic’s Secrets of the Penguins were it not for her and husband Ryan Reynolds’ children James11, Inez9, Betty6, and Olin3.
“I narrated this for my kids,” Blake shared in an April 8 Instagram Storyafter the miniseries picked up three 2026 News and Documentary Emmy Award nominations. “Both in how I told the story. And why.”
In fact, the 38-year-old said the show “came at a time that my heart needed it most.”
“My kids love to fall asleep to nature shows,” she continued. “Nothing more comforting and divine than these sweet babies. This series holds such a special place in my heart, and my home.”
The Simple Favor actress also gave a shoutout to the team behind Secrets of the Penguinswhich is up for Outstanding Nature Documentary, Outstanding Cinematography: Documentary and Outstanding Sound: Documentary.
