The project resembles the French Arc de Triomphe, one of the best-known tourist attractions in Paris. “I am pleased to announce that TODAY my administration has officially presented the design and plans to the highly respected Commission of Fine Arts for what will be the BIGGEST and MOST BEAUTIFUL Arc de Triomphe in the world. This will be a wonderful addition to the Washington, D.C. area for all Americans to enjoy for decades to come!” he said in a post on Truth Social. 📱Download the g1 app to see news in real time and for free Also this Friday (10), the US government released the drawings submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts, which should analyze the project by next week. The designs were made by the Harrison Design office, which is based in the capital. For the North American newspaper New York Times, the construction refers to the Arc de Triomphe, a tourist attraction in Paris, France. The US project consists of a 76-meter-high arch, decorated with eagles and angels, which should be located on the banks of the Potomac River. For Trump, the monument is a way of celebrating the 250th anniversary of US independence. The design shows that the monument must bear the words “One Nation Under God” and “Liberty and Justice for All”, which appear in the country’s oath of allegiance. In October 2025, the government began construction on a $200 million ballroom in the East Wing of the White House. “I am honored to be the first president to finally get this much-needed project underway — at no cost to the American taxpayer! Completely separate from the White House, the East Wing is being completely modernized as part of this process and will be more beautiful than ever when completed,” Trump said in announcing the project. Project for a ballroom in the White House complex According to the White House, this is equivalent to “a significant increase in relation to the capacity of 200 people seated in the East Room of the White House”, the current space used to host events. In March of this year, Trump said that space will also have a large underground military complex. “The military is building a huge complex under the ballroom, and it’s under construction, and it’s going very well, so we’re ahead of schedule. (…) The ballroom essentially becomes a shelter for what’s being built underneath,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. Trump did not give details, however, about what the military complex will look like or what its purpose would be. Still, the construction of such a facility beneath the White House is unprecedented in U.S. history. Project for a ballroom in the White House complex
