105 migrants shipwreck off the coast of Italy; 71 were lost at sea

A boat leaving Libya with 105 migrants heading to Europe sank off the Italian coast this Easter weekend. Two non-governmental organizations, Mediterranean Saving Humans and Sea-Watch, rescued 2 bodies and 32 survivors. Italy’s Interior Ministry did not comment on the NGOs’ report. The Italian Coast Guard did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Reuters news agency. Bad weather has plagued the Mediterranean this year, limiting the number of departures from North Africa and creating serious problems for those trying to sail the sea.
