“We are attacking Iran very hard,” says Trump at White House press conference

by Marcelo Moreira

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was at the White House this Tuesday (3), where he met with the President of the United States, Donald Trump. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the situation in Iran and other topics of common interest between their countries.

At the press conference held after the meeting, Trump adopted a critical tone towards some European allies. Among the harshest statements, the reference to Spain stood out, which decided to prevent the use of its military bases by American troops in a possible action against Iran.

Given this Spanish position, the North American president stated that he may consider imposing a trade embargo on the European country as a way of responding to the decision.

Merz told Trump he hopes the war ends soon. Furthermore, it hopes that the armies of Israel and the United States are taking appropriate measures to end the situation so that a new government can assume power and thus restore peace and freedom.

Attacks on Iran

Trump declared that the offensive he carried out had a “very powerful impact” and that a large part of the adversary’s military capacity had been neutralized, including the significant reduction in its missile arsenal. He also said that he was surprised by the developments in the conflict, as were others involved.

The president also accused the rival group of attacking countries in the Middle East that, according to him, had no direct relationship with the conflict, in addition to hitting civilian targets, such as hotels and residential complexes. According to Trump, American forces intensified attacks and eliminated strategic structures and air defense systems.

The American leader called Iranian leaders “cruel”.
