New utility version of the EX30 arrives with up to 1,000 liters of cargo capacity, a payload of 390kg and a starting price of £36,010 in the UK market
Volvo Car UK announced on March 25, 2026 the expansion of its range of electric vehicles with the launch of theEX30 Cargoa new van derived from the EX30 electric compact SUV, aimed primarily at businesses and fleet operators in the UK.
This new product was developed to meet the needs of companies looking for a compact utility vehicle without sacrificing the comfort, technology and safety standards characteristic of the Swedish brand. The model will be available in two versions: EX30 Cargo and EX30 Cross Country Cargo, the latter offering higher ground clearance.

To transform the EX30 into a utility vehicle, Volvo Car UK carried out a second level conversion replacing the rear seats with a flat floor, while integrating an access panel to the lower compartment, improving practicality for transport. The vehicle thus offers 1,000 liters of loading volume and a payload of up to 390 kg.
The cargo compartment also has a specific partition to separate the cabin from the transport area, as well as rear side panels and modified doors to increase the usable volume. Volvo has also added a wider opening of the rear doors for easier loading, an additional work light in the cargo area and new anchor points on the subframe under the floor, increasing the versatility of the model for different professional applications.
According to the manufacturer, the conversion can be applied to both new vehicles and units already in stock, allowing marketing for the 2026 and 2027 vintages.
According to Jack Munford, head of fleets at Volvo Car UK, the aim is to bring to the compact utility segment the same qualities that have made the brand famous in the passenger car market. “While we are best known for our passenger cars, we know that businesses and fleet managers also want the quality, safety and technology that characterizes Volvo in a compact utility vehicle, which is why we created the highly practical EX30 Cargo,” he said.

On the engine side, the EX30 Cargo will be offered with the versions P3 of 150 hp, P5 of 272 hp and P8 of 428 ch with all-wheel drive. For the 2027 model year, Volvo will introduce the P3 Extended Range version, aimed at customers looking for less power but a range of up to 300 miles. The model will also be available in standard and Extended Range versions depending on the configuration chosen.
The range will include Core, Plus and Cross Country Plus trims. From the basic version, the EX30 Cargo offers comprehensive equipment including the Safe Space Technology pack, Google Automotive services, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic LED headlights and an 11 kW three-phase charger with heat pump. 18-inch Aero wheels are also standard equipment.

In the Plus version, the model adds comfort and practicality-oriented equipment, such as Pilot Assist, Digital Key Plus, a premium Harman Kardon audio system, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and wireless charging for smartphones. On the outside, the finish includes a two-tone roof and 19-inch Aero wheels.
Volvo also highlights that the EX30 Cargo has undergone comprehensive testing to ensure that all safety systems continue to operate in accordance with the brand’s standards, preserving the already recognized level of protection of its range.
The Volvo EX30 Cargo is already on sale in the UK from £36,010 OTR, in standard configuration with P5 engine, and will be sold exclusively through Volvo Car UK’s fleet sales channels.
