THE IRIS Makrana former commercial vessel converted into a mobile expeditionary base, suffered damage during attacks on naval installations in the port city of Bandar Abbas, one of Iran’s main navy bases.

Military escalation in the Persian Gulf

The attacks are part of what military sources describe as the first phases of a broader campaign against Iranian naval assets. The operation, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, would aim to neutralize maritime and drone capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy.

So far, Iranian authorities have not released a complete official assessment of the damage or possible victims.

The situation remains developing and new information is expected to emerge in the coming hours as more details of the operation are released.
