by Syndicated News

The United States has authorized a Russian ship loaded with oil to head to Cuba, The New York Times reported this Sunday (29), based on the report of an American official familiar with the matter. According to the newspaper, the American Coast Guard decided not to intercept the vessel, which carries around 730,000 barrels of crude oil and belongs to the Russian government. According to data from the maritime monitoring company MarineTraffic cited by the report, the ship was less than 24 kilometers from Cuban territorial waters on Sunday afternoon and should arrive at the port of Matanzas, in Cuba, in the next few days. Also according to the New York Times, the authorization represents a relaxation of the de facto blockade imposed by Washington on oil shipments to the island since January, when the American government began to pressure and even prevent vessels from delivering fuel to Cuba. The United States government has not publicly detailed the terms of the authorization or the specific conditions for the vessel’s arrival. See the videos that are trending on g1
