The US and Iran announced in the last few hours that they are entering a “new phase” of the war against Iran. The Israeli military declared that it is transitioning from a “stage of surprise attacks” to expanding the campaign against the regime and its military capabilities.
Previously, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth had also signaled that firepower over Iran “would be about to increase dramatically.”
Intense bombings continue for the seventh day of war in the Middle East. The Israeli Army announced that, in addition to the military campaign maintained against the Iranian regime, it will increase its attacks in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah, supported by Tehran.
The capital of Iran was the scene of intense bombings in the early hours of this Friday (6). The explosions began around 5 am (local time, 10:30 pm in Brasília), in an area of Tehran where several government departments and headquarters are located, including the presidency, which had not been previously attacked.
The Israeli Army reported, in the early hours of the morning, that a “broad wave” of attacks against the Iranian regime’s infrastructure in Tehran had begun. Israeli authorities also claim to have destroyed six ballistic missile launchers on Iranian territory.
The commander of US Central Command (Centcom) said at a press conference on Thursday that the next phase of the military operation mainly involves the dismantling of Iran’s missile production capacity and the Islamic regime’s structures.
Israel’s chief of staff stated that the country had destroyed approximately 80% of Iranian air defense systems, and that its pilots had achieved “almost complete air superiority” over the skies over Iran. Furthermore, he said that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had destroyed more than 60% of the country’s missile launchers.
Ground attacks on the way?
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said this week that President Donald Trump is not ruling out sending ground troops to Iran, although she said that “at this time” that option is not part of the initial plan for Operation Epic Fury against the Islamic regime.
In response, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said in an interview with American broadcaster NBC that the country is “prepared” for the arrival of military personnel on Iranian soil.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has already declared that it may wage a protracted war against the US and Israel.
