British police announced the arrest of two men this Wednesday (25) in connection with the anti-Semitic attack on ambulances belonging to the Jewish community in north London at the beginning of the week.
In total, four ambulances from Hatzola, a voluntary service operating in the Golders Green area, were set on fire at around 1.35am (London time) on Monday. There were no reports of injuries.
The arrests came after British police said they were investigating a claim of responsibility for the attack made online by a little-known group believed to have links to Iran.
Authorities did not release the identities of those detained, describing them only as two arrested men, one aged 47 and the other aged 45. They were arrested on Wednesday morning at homes in northwest and central London. Police are investigating a third suspect who is still at large.
“This appears to be a significant development in the investigation, but we also know that security camera footage of the incident suggests that at least three people were involved. We fully understand that the local community remains concerned and our investigation remains active. We will continue to work to identify and arrest anyone who may have been involved,” Commander Helen Flanagan, head of the Counter Terrorism Unit responsible for the investigation, told the press.
