Donald Trump said Monday he will attend the White House correspondents’ association dinner for the first time as president.

Writing in a social media post, Trump said: “In honor of our Nation’s 250th Birthday, and the fact that these ‘Correspondents’ now admit that I am truly one of the Greatest Presidents in the History of our Country, the G.O.A.T., according to many, it will be my Honor to accept their invitation, and work to make it the GREATEST, HOTTEST, and MOST SPECTACULAR DINNER, OF ANY KIND, EVER!”

Trump boycotted the dinner for the first time in 2017 and has not attended since in either of his terms as president. Before Trump, every president has attended the dinner at least once since the first one was held in 1921.

Trump previously attended the dinner as a guest, most famously in 2011 when then-president Barack Obama and host Seth Meyers brutally mocked him and his presidential ambitions.

Trump will not have to worry about a comedian roasting him at this year’s dinner, as the White House correspondents’ association has instead invited mentalist Oz Pearlman to entertain guests.

“We’re happy the president has accepted our invitation and look forward to hosting him,” Weijia Jiang, the White House correspondents’ association president, said in a statement on Monday.

Since Trump’s return to the presidency in 2025, his allies have bought major media companies, including David Ellison buying Paramount, the parent company of CBS News. Last week, Paramount made a successful bid to acquire Warner Bros Discovery, which operates CNN.
