Trump suggests the next US target could be Cuba

President Donald Trump suggested in an interview this Thursday (5) that the Cuban regime could be the next target in a US military campaign, following the war with Iran.

According to him, Havana is “desperate” for an agreement and it is “a matter of time” before its government is able to focus on the island.

“They have no idea; Cuba desperately wants a deal,” said the president during his speech at a White House event to celebrate the 2025 league title of Inter Miami, Argentine Lionel Messi’s team.

Before the statements, Trump had told the website Politico that the fall of the Cuban regime would be “the icing on the cake” and explained that the US has pursued this objective for more than 50 years, but that, for him, it was a secondary objective.

Last month, the American press reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio was in contact with the grandson of former dictator Raúl Castro. During the same period, Washington increased economic pressure on Cuba, blocking the transfer of oil to the island.
