The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Friday (6) that the American defense industry will quadruple the production of advanced weapons. The announcement comes amid the war against Iran.
In a post on social media, Trump stated that this Friday he concluded “a very good meeting with the largest US defense manufacturing companies”, in which timelines and expansion of weapons production were discussed. According to the president, the companies “agreed to quadruple the production of sophisticated class weapons”, with the aim of reaching “the highest levels of quantity as quickly as possible”.
Trump said the defense industrial expansion began three months before this meeting and that factories and production lines are already in operation. He declared that the United States has “a practically unlimited supply of medium and medium-high caliber ammunition”, currently used, according to him, in Iran and, more recently, in Venezuela. Despite this, he stated that the government also increased requests at these levels.
According to the president, the CEOs of BAE Systems, Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace, L3Harris Missile Solutions, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon participated in the meeting. Trump said that a new meeting has already been scheduled for two months from now and that different American states are competing for the installation of new industrial plants, where more weapons production factories will be built.
