Trump acknowledges that Russia is helping Iran “a little”

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, acknowledged this Friday (13) that Russia may be helping “a little” the Islamic regime of Iran in the war in the Middle East, where American and Israeli forces are carrying out attacks against military targets and structures linked to the Tehran dictatorship. The statement was made during an interview with Fox News, amid reports that Moscow had provided indirect support to ongoing Iranian actions in the conflict region.

“I think he might be helping a little, yes, and he probably thinks we’re helping Ukraine, right?” Trump said when commenting on possible Russian involvement in the conflict. The American president added that China could also make a similar assessment.

The American press reported in recent days that the Russian regime had shared information that helped Iran locate United States military bases in the Middle East, used by American forces during the offensive against the Iranian regime. This data would have been used in missile and drone attacks carried out by Tehran against American positions in the region.

Despite the information, members of the American government have minimized the impact of likely Russian support. US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth recently declared that Russia and China are “not really a factor” in the war against Iran and that American forces are prepared to deal with any additional threat.

This Thursday (12), the United Kingdom’s Defense Secretary, John Healey, stated that there is evidence of Russian influence in the military tactics adopted by Iran in recent operations in the Middle East. According to him, the “hidden hand” of Russian President Vladimir Putin may be behind part of the strategies used by Tehran in responding to the offensive led by the United States and Israel.

Trump’s statement comes after his government decided to temporarily ease some restrictions on Russian oil, a measure announced by the Treasury to reduce the impact of the conflict on energy prices.
