A sheriff in Hall County, Georgia (USA), was arrested after driving his patrol vehicle with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit.

According to authorities, Sheriff Gerald Couch was arrested around 10.30am last Friday (27th) for drink driving. A breath alcohol test found his BAC was three times the legal limit.

During questioning with colleagues, Couch said he had been drinking and had “ruined everything”. He admitted drinking around 6am, but not consuming any alcohol after 8am.

Authorities found two open alcoholic beverages inside Couch’s vehicle. The sheriff was taken to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, but was released overnight after posting bail. It is not yet clear whether he will be suspended from his position as sheriff.
