The UBIM universal armored engineering machine, developed and produced by the Uralvagonzavod group (UVZ), part of the Russian state corporation Rostec, was officially adopted by the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, according to an announcement released this Wednesday, March 26.
According to Rostec, UBIM was designed to expand the operational capacity of engineering units by bringing together, on a single platform, functions that would normally be performed by different types of specialized vehicles. In a statement, the industrial director of Rostec’s armaments cluster, Bekhan Ozdoyev, said that the adoption of UBIM reflects the Russian forces’ demand for engineering vehicles with greater mobility, protection and versatility.
