The city of Porto, in Portugal, will host on May 30th the “Remigration Summit 2026“, an event that brings together supporters of migration restriction policies and defense of national sovereignty in Europe. According to the organizers, the meeting seeks to discuss the future of the continent with a focus on cultural identity, migration control and demographic changes.
The concept of “remigration” is presented on the event’s official website as a set of public policies aimed at reversing migratory flows, with the aim of “restoring the sovereignty, independence and identity of countries”. The event advocates discussions on measures aimed at illegal immigrants, foreigners with legal status and also naturalized citizens who, according to the organizers, would not be assimilated into the local culture.
Tickets for the event are now on sale and range from 45 euros to 325 euros – the equivalent of around R$270 to R$2,000 at the current price. The most basic package guarantees access to the event and light food, while the more expensive options include dinner with speakers, preferential seats and even accommodation for one night.
The previous edition of the meeting, held in 2025 in Italy, brought together around 400 participants from different European countries. The event featured speeches that criticized multiculturalism and defended stricter immigration control policies, including the return to their country of origin of immigrants considered “not assimilated”.
The meeting in Portugal takes place after the country’s center-right government advances, with the support of the right-wing Chega party, in measures to tighten migration policy. This month, the so-called Council of Ministers approved a proposal that speeds up deportations of illegal immigrants, reduces possibilities for judicial appeal and increases the maximum detention time.
According to the government, the legislation is considered a central step in the reformulation of Portuguese migration rules. The proposal will still be sent to Parliament, where the government hopes to obtain support for its approval.
