Police indict nursing technicians in DF for lethal injections in patients

by Marcelo Moreira

The Civil Police of the Federal District concluded investigations into the investigation into three deaths that occurred in a private hospital located in Taguatinga. The cases took place between November 17th and December 1st, 2025 and resulted in the indictment of three nursing technicians — one man and two women.

Nursing technician Marcos Vinícius Silva Barbosa de Araújo was indicted for three triple homicides — for using poison, insidious means or treason and a resource that made it difficult for the victims to defend themselves — in addition to two crimes of forging a private document and two of using a false document.

Nursing technician Marcela Camilly Alves da Silva was indicted for three triple homicides. Technician Amanda Rodrigues de Sousa was indicted for two triple homicides.

If convicted, sentences can reach up to 90 years in prison. Still this week, the Court ordered and carried out the preventive arrests of the three suspects, in the early hours of Tuesday (10).

Understand the case

According to the investigation, the suspects applied non-prescribed substances to patients, including disinfectant, which caused fatal cardiorespiratory arrests.

In one of the cases identified by the expert, a patient received at least ten doses of disinfectant directly into her vein. The crimes occurred on different dates, and the motivation for the murders is still unknown.

Initially, Marcos Vinícius denied the crimes. However, when confronted with the evidence, he presented two versions to investigators. At first, he stated that he was nervous and that the hospital was very busy, which would have led him to commit the crimes. Afterwards, he declared that he had acted with the intention of alleviating the suffering of the victims.

Check out the note from Hospital Anchienta:

Hospital Anchieta Taguatinga was officially informed of the conclusion of the investigation conducted by the Civil Police of the Federal District into illicit acts involving former employees.

It is worth remembering that it was the Institution itself that identified such conduct, and immediately reported the case to the competent authorities. Since then, the Hospital has acted as a whistleblower and fully collaborated with the investigations.

The institution does not and will never condone acts that are contrary to laws, ethics and morals and will continue to act to hold accountable those who choose to act illegally.

The police authorities concluded what the Anchieta hospital had detected internally: that this case involves intentional, individual and deliberate criminal conduct, absolutely incompatible with the principles that guide the institution’s actions.

Anchieta reaffirms its confidence in the ethical, technical and committed work of its professionals, who work with tireless dedication and responsibility in caring for patients, with this episode being an isolated case, already investigated and with criminal liability for those involved in progress.

At this time, the hospital expresses deep respect and solidarity with the families of the patients involved and reaffirms its permanent commitment to truth, justice, transparency and the safety of the care provided to patients.

Hospital Anchieta will continue working daily to offer safe, ethical and excellent care to our patients, fulfilling our mission, which is to care for people’s lives.
