His promotion comes at a time when the country’s global reputation is at a low ebb. According to the Pew Research Center, US popularity has fallen significantly in 15 of the 25 countries analyzed since Trump returned to the White House. One of the biggest drops, for example, was in Mexico, where 29% have an unfavorable view, compared to 61% recorded in 2024.
