The accident occurred near the city of Ayacucho, in southern Peru, when the car in which the candidate was traveling overturned for reasons that are being investigated. According to his report, he himself took Becerra, 61 years old, to a health center, where the candidate was confirmed dead. The National Elections Court (JNE) lamented Becerra’s death, and wished the speedy recovery of the three people who accompanied him and who were injured in the accident.
