This Thursday (12), minister Alexandre de Moraes reversed his decision on authorizing the visit of Trump government advisor, Darren Beattie, to former president Jair Bolsonaro, in Papudinha. The decision came amid a demonstration by Brazilian Chancellor Mauro Vieira.
According to the chancellor, the visa was granted exclusively for official commitments and stated that any visit to the prisoner would be considered undue interference in the country’s internal affairs.
A document sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the granting of the visa to enter the country was made based only on official justifications presented by the United States government.
According to the statement, when the request was presented to the Brazilian Consulate General, there was no indication of meetings that were outside the informed institutional commitments.
